Jen Grillo, PTA

Jen
Jen Grillo joined the TherAplay staff in
June 2002. She earned an Associate’s Degree in Physical
Therapy at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in
1993 and her bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management in
1994. Jen has worked in long-term care and outpatient rehab
settings since graduation and specializes in working with
pediatrics, spinal cord injury, stroke and amputees.
Jen has pursued continuing education in the areas of
gait training, sensory integration and advanced hippotherapy
treatment. Jen is a member of the North American Riding for
the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and the American
Hippotherapy Association (AHA). She is a North American
Riding for the Handicapped (NARHA) Registered Therapist and
an AHA Level II Therapist. She is also a First Steps and
Medicaid provider.
Jen is a member of the Fishers Police Department
Citizens Alumni Academy which allows her to be involved in
her community. She spends her free time with friends,
family, her dog, Bodee, and also riding her Arabian gelding,
Chance.

Meghan Lemons, DPT

Meghan
Meghan Lemons joined the TherAplay team
in September of 2006. She graduated from Xavier University
in 2002 with a BS in Psychology. In 2006, she graduated from
the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Indiana
University. She volunteered at TherAplay during her
graduate program and completed her final clinical experience
here in May and June of 2006. Due to her high interest in
the clinical specialty of pediatrics, as well as her
extensive background in competitive horseback riding, Meghan
is so excited to be incorporating the tool of hippotherapy
into her practice.
Meghan is a member of the
American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the
American Hippotherapy Association (AHA). She is an AHA
Level II Therapist and is also a Medicaid and First Steps
provider. In June 2007 she attended Champ Camp with
TherAplay staff and horses, a camp that provides outdoor and
enrichment activities for children and adolescents with
tracheostomies and ventilator assistance. She has had
numerous volunteer experiences including the IUPUI Motor
Activity Clinic & MS Swim, as well as the Cincinnati
Children’s Hospital “CP Preschool”. Meghan is interested in
pursuing continuing education in the areas of NDT and SI
treatment techniques.
Meghan resides on the NW side
of Indianapolis with her labradoodle Riley. She enjoys
running with her dog, playing golf, and watching reality
television.

Jackie Wrin, OT

Jackie
Jackie Wrin has been a member of the
TherAplay team since September 2003. She is a graduate of
Indiana University with a BS Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Jackie
has a variety of clinical experience, working in adult
rehabilitation and pediatrics. She is a member of the
American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), North
American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and
the American Hippotherapy Association (AHA). Jackie is a
North American Riding for the Handicapped (NARHA) Registered
Therapist and an AHA Level II Therapist. She is also a
Medicaid and First Steps provider.
Jackie
began her interaction with TherAplay as a volunteer, and
consequently became interested in joining the staff. She
enjoys working with and using horses as a treatment tool in
her therapy sessions. Jackie has attended numerous
continuing education courses focusing on adult rehab and
pediatrics with a focus on sensory integration. She also has
been trained in the Beckman’s, an oral motor assessment
tool.
Jackie,
her husband John, and daughter Lillian are building a house
where they await the arrival of their second child.
Lisa Butterbaugh,
MS, OTR

Lisa
Lisa Butterbaugh is the newest member of TherAplay’s
staff. Lisa has known that she wanted to pursue a therapy
degree and incorporate hippotherapy since junior high
school, where she volunteered at an adaptive riding facility
as a sidewalker and American Sign Language translator. She
has an extensive background with horses that includes
competitive riding and teaching lessons.
Lisa completed two clinical fieldwork rotations at
TherAplay while in OT school. She also completed research
projects, papers and presentations about hippotherapy as a
treatment tool.
Lisa received a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy
from Indiana University. In addition, she holds a Bachelor
in Psychology and a Minor in Medical Sociology from Purdue
University. Lisa has also taken advanced coursework in
pediatrics, and is looking forward to additional training in
sensory integration and obtaining her Hippotherapy Clinical
Specialist (HPCS) Certification. She is eager to
participate in research regarding the use of hippotherapy in
the treatment of children with Autism.
Lisa resides in the Butler Tarkington
neighborhood with her sister Lauren and has a golden
retriever puppy named Morgan. |
