for each patient who participates in hippotherapy?
Did you know that hippotherapy involves neither a hippopotamus
nor hypnosis but rather 'hippo' is the Greek word for 'horse'?
Therefore, hippotherapy is literally a medical treatment
utilizing the multidimensional movement of the horse for

treatment tool for patients not only with physical disabilities
but for patients with mental disabilities as well?
Did you know that hippotherapy and therapeutic riding
are two very different things? Hippotherapy differs from
therapeutic riding in that the horse's movement is used
to influence the patient as compared to a student learning
riding skills to influence the horse as is seen in therapeutic
riding.
Did you know that patients are partnered with their horse
after careful consideration of what horse will be the best
match for each individual? The horse to be partnered with
the patient is chosen based on its size (height and width),
gait patterns, degree of lateral movement and speed to name
a few.
