General Insurance Information |
TherAplay is a First Steps and Medicaid provider. TherAplay is in-network with Suburban Health Organization (also referred to as St. Vincent CMO), Indiana Health Network (also referred to a Indiana Teamsters), and Anthem, Anthem Medicaid. Plans vary depending on the number of visits and the percentage of benefits paid. Due to differences in insurance policies, you should contact your insurance carrier to see what your plan provides for physical and/or occupational therapy.
Non-network are self-pay and need to contact their insurance company to find out their reimbursement/benefits.
If this is a non-covered expense or your insurance benefits have been maximized, there are options for self-pay and TherAplay's fee subsidy/scholarship program. This is based on income and number of members in the family. Further information on taxes, insurance and family will be required. |

About Your First Visit
|
Once you have been contacted and given a time slot for therapy, your first visit to TherAplay is mainly an evaluation of your child's needs. As a parent, you receive a packet of general information information, TherAplay policies and patient forms to fill out. Your child's skills are assessed in the clinic and the therapist will also do a short ride on a horse with your child.
Typical therapy sessions are one-on-one and last for one hour. Half of the session is spent on the horse practicing hippotherapy, while the other half is in the clinic using typical therapy techniques.

Hippotherapy Team
|
Sessions are provided by licensed physical and occupational therapists. Each therapists also has specialized training using the hippotherapy tool.
While your child is on the horse, there is also a specialized "team" for that half of the session. This team consist of the therapist, a horse handler that guides the horse, and when appropriate, an additional side-walker for assistance.
