The Sept. 22 Children’s TherAplay Hoe-Down is this weekend! Here are the top seven things you need to know about it (even if you aren't able to make it to the event!).
1. Wait, WHO’s riding the bull!?!
When you think of media personalities, you think: intrepid journalists, broadcasters, and bloggers, right? Bull-riding superstars? Not so much. At least not usually.
But this year the fine folks from HANK FM, RTV 6, the Indy Star, IntoIndy.com, NBC Sports, IndyBoozeMuse.com, and CBS 4 are taking on the mechanical bull and each other to help raise funds and awareness for treatment at Children’s TherAplay. See who’s competing.
2. Also new this year
3. Returning favorites
4. What’s open to everyone (even if they can’t make it to the Hoe-Down)?
The silent auction is online now and open to everyone. There are some pretty exciting items in there, if we do say so ourselves.
Heads-up: Gift cards ranging from St. Elmo Steakhouse to the Cincinnati Zoo are available and marked 20% off face value. Because they are Instabuy items, not the traditional silent auction format, they’re first come first serve – and they get snapped up right away.
5. Because you asked
The advance purchase ticket price has been extended. So whether you purchase now or at the door, they’re still $100 for general admission, $200 for VIP, and $350 for a four-pack of general admission tickets.
6. Guest parking has moved just up the street to Towne Meadow Elementary School (10850 Towne Rd, Carmel). As in years past, the kind folks from Indianapolis Yellow Cab will provide ongoing complimentary stagecoach service between guest parking at the event throughout the evening.
7. And most important of all: THANK YOU
Like any medical treatment, equine-assisted physical and occupational therapies come with a price tag. By participating in the Hoe-Down, you’re helping ensure that kiddos – nearly 200 of them! – who have special needs can continue to benefit from these innovative treatments.
"Emmett has overcome so many obstacles this past year. When first starting [occupational therapy at] Children’s TherAplay he could not sit in a chair without falling over. Now [he is] playing along the side of his peers.
Amongst giving Emmett tools to help in his independence, the therapists have also given our family multiple strategies we can use in his daily life. It has been a beautiful sight to watch him grow with the help of everyone at Children’s TherAplay."
– Emmett’s mom, Aryel
Making a difference like this is what we're all about. And so much of it is possible through your support at the Children's TherAplay Hoe-Down. Thanks for being a part of it.
