When we heard about kiddo Garrett's big day with Team Justify earlier this week, there was only one thing to do: Celebrate with him!
After all, how often does someone get to meet the team behind the fastest horse in the world? But that's exactly what happened for Garrett and his family earlier this week.
This child, who knows everything about the triple-crown winning horse, jockey, and trainer, has dreamed of meeting the winning team. He would often tell his physical and occupational therapists, “I’m waiting on a call from Justify.”
That dream came true this week at the Kentucky Derby Museum. In the lead-up to the Breeders Cup, which will draw crowds and racehorses from all over the world to Kentucky Downs for the largest purse in racing, Maker's Mark had a signing for their commemorative triple-crown Justify bottle.
And Garrett was there with his family, proud to tell legendary jockey Mike Smith and world-class trainer Bob Baffert that he, Garrett, pretends to be them during his physical and occupational therapy treatments! In fact, those treatments often sound something like this: "It’s Mike Smith and Justify down the long stretch. Justify ahead by a length. Justify for the win!"
