Volunteer

The work we do here at TherAplay would not be possible without the help of our dedicated volunteers. We truly appreciate any and all assistance we receive. Really!

As a nonprofit, we want every available dollar to go into therapy for kiddos rather than cleaning, grounds keeping and other services. Volunteers help keep our overhead low and ensure we have more money available for our therapy program.

We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities, ranging from working with the kiddos and horses to helping with fundraising/event planning, taking on project or committee leadership and cleaning. Below are some specific opportunities:

• Help in the Barn - Mucking stalls, filling water buckets, cleaning tack, grooming horses, etc. For safety reasons, you must be an experienced horse-person to volunteer in the barn.
• General Office Help -Help our billing manager keep up with scanning documents.
• Cleaning - Ok, very few folks are thrilled with this job. It's not glamorous, but it's essential. Our clinic is in a barn, so we clean a lot! Everyone who volunteers will get a turn at cleaning - just so you know.
• Gardening/Groundkeeping - Help keep the flowerbeds around our building and our Sensory Garden weeded, mulched and planted. If you have a green thumb and the desire, we'll let you go to town!
• Handyman/General Repairs - If you're handy and can fix broken doors and drawers, put together adaptive bicycles, build ramps, put up gutters, build shelves etc., fantastic.
• Represent TherAplay at Community Events - Take our display, brochures and other materials to United Way Agency Fairs, Taste of Carmel, Carmel Fest and other community event. Pass out brochures and talk with folks about TherAplay.

We ask that our volunteers

• Be at least 16 years of age.

• Be able to work independently without close supervision (We're a small nonprofit, and like most are very short-staffed)

• Volunteers can sign up to be here on a regular basis, or can be a part of our volunteer e-mail list to receive and choose occasional opportunities as they come up.
