Interested in having your horse join the equine team at Children's TherAplay? Our therapy horses play a critical role in our ability to deliver quality therapy services. We carefully vet each horse before entry into the program to ensure the horse is the right fit for our needs at any given time.
If you are interesed in applying for the program:
- Complete the Horse Profile Form and return to Kirby Wierda, Equine Program Manager
Provide a thorough written assessment of Horse’s history, experience, injuries, temperament, and current needs that help TherAplay better understand if they might be an appropriate fit - Equine Program Manager assesses current herd workload and patient’s equine needs to determine size and confirmation of needed horse/pony
- Equine Program Manager conducts site assessment
In a 60 minute evaluation, the Equine Program Manager will assess confirmation, soundness, movement, temperament on ground and under saddle, and long-lining skills. - Equine Program Manager works with therapy and barn staff to decide if moving forward with a 30 day trial is appropriate
